# 7 ROBERT SERGI JR. Top 100 Santa Rosa Island Mule Deer Bucks

# 7 ROBERT SERGI JR. Top 100 Santa Rosa Island Mule Deer Bucks

This is the exclamation bookend buck that goes along with Arthur Gutierrez's buck (#25). Robert, or Bobby as he likes to be called, is Arthur's grandson. They shot their two awesome bucks on the same fateful day in August of 2006. This tandem signifies the finest single day of hunting on Santa Rosa Island. Not only a Top 10 buck was taken that day, but Arthur's buck was the widest buck every shot out there. Fast forward nine years, and Bobby is now operating The Legends Ranch whitetail deer program for his family in Michigan.

This buck has such a big frame that you don'r realize that it is also over 33 inches in width. It is just so proportional in size. A lot of bucks that are this wide don't have the height or tine length. This buck pretty much has everything that you could ever want from a trophy mule deer. Throw in the perfect velvet on his antlers and it is picture-perfect. From what Wayne said at the time, Bobby also made a tremendous shot on this buck. A few days earlier I had seen this buck running around with about 20 other bucks. It was a real show-stopper moment. At that same time I had my video camera running and got some outstanding footage of that bachelor group. When I built a hunting video with that footage in it, I added music to it. Whenever I hear Dave Alvin's "California Bloodlines" song, I think of this buck and the crew he was running around with that day. Great memories but bittersweet at the same time.

Congratulations, Bobby, you shot a trophy of a lifetime with MUM on Santa Rosa Island.
