# 8 MARK BUCHANAN Top 100 Santa Rosa Island Mule Deer Bucks
This has got to be one of the most unique bucks I have ever seen. This thing has 4 beams. Are you kidding?!?! This is a buck that might show up in your dreams. A good dream, of course, but can this buck actually exist with these malconformed antlers.Wayne guided on this hunt. As his story goes, he saw this buck the hunt before but the buck got wind of their evil intentions and got away from them before clients Bill or Kurt could get a shot off. Luckily, when Wayne goes back to Navy Hill on this day in 2006, they stalked in without being detected. This is Mark's 3rd entry into the Top 100 (#57 and #91). It is also his biggest. Every time Mark came onto the Island, he brought a video crew to film his hunts. We are all still waiting on pins and needles for the production of the video that includes this buck plus a couple more from Santa Rosa Island. Once it does get published for public viewing, we will let everyone know. As you might expect, Mark and his crew spent lots of time taking still photos as well. Though this buck doesn't require trick photography to present it well, this wide angle view is nevertheless is very impressive. This photo has something about it that I could stare at it for long periods of time. Just a great image that catches the essence of Santa Rosa Island. Just yards away from this spot on Navy Hill is Holly's Folly. In 1985 guide Greg Holly lost a vehicle off a hill. The emergency brake popped off and Greg and his assistant Tom Poulos chased after the truck as it rolled away, but they couldn't catch it time. Tom actually got a door open but the truck to too close to the edge to take that chance. They had to walk in alll the way across the Island. To say the least, those clients, including Roy Towers, missed their plane flight that day. Just another interesting story about the hunting program out there that spanned 33 years.
Congratulations Mark, you shot a trophy of a lifetime with MUM on Santa Rosa Island!
