# 35 JIM COFFRINI Top 100 Santa Rosa Island Mule Deer Bucks
This buck of Jim's was the first trophy shot during that last fateful year of 2011 on the Island. This buck wasn't excessively tall, but boy is it heavy all the way to all his tips! His non-typical points are too shabby either. This was Jim's third trip to the Island, his biggest buck, and his second entry into the SRI Top 100 (#50). Jim hit this buck so hard, and the canyon was so steep that the buck's velvet was damaged when he took a roll down the mountain. Really too bad because this buck would have been magnificient if he could have kept it. Jim was paired with Andy Wood on this hunt. Jim won the coin toss for this morning. Good luck for Jim, not so much for Andy! Notice this buck is losing his summer coat-- these capes weren't all that pretty with the splotchy look of the transition between summer and winter coats, but most clients could have cared less. I don't think Jim ever mentioned he was disappointed with the seasonal phase of this buck. No wonder, he had just shot a true monster buck. Congrats Jim!
