#44 JACK WILKINSON Top 100 Santa Rosa Island Mule Deer Bucks
Ho Hum, just another huge buck from 2010. Jack has been a client of MUM since the early 1980's. Jack has brought out numerous family members to the Island, and many other MUM properties over the years, including his brother Jerry. I even married into this large family since my wifes aunt is a first cousin to Jack and the Wilkinson's.
This buck was killed the day before #61, Jeff Brasher, and about a half a mile apart. If you saw this buck and Jeff's buck which was a 211.65 buck, how could you choose? Jeff's had a little more nontypical junk, but Jack's was a couple inches wider. It would have been a good problem to have, one that us guides had to sometimes take on, especially early in the season, when these bucks were running together in large bachelor groups. If I remember right, Jack actually did have to choose between these two bucks, and decided on this buck due to its width. Some of the most famous photos from the Island are from August, then these bucks were all hanging together, and looking so big with thick velvet on their antlers.
